Selangor Coast Club Klang
Our Club's History
1906
Founded by Mr. Yeoh Guan Hup, a prominent businessman from Klang. The Club was then known as the Klang Unity Reading Room, located along Rembau Street (now Jalan Tengku Kelana). It served as a social hub for local Chinese merchants and traders. Subsequently, the name was changed to Klang United Association and in 1911, it was changed again to Klang Coast Club.
1916
Renamed to The Selangor Coast Club and was relocated to a new premises near the Klang Stadium (Padang Sultan Sulaiman), became a popular spot for social and sporting activities. The Club had remained there until 1976.
1925
A group of local Chinese merchants took over the management, with Mr. Lim Kim Chuan as the first Malaysian Chinese President. The Club continued to thrive as a community and sports hub.
1977–1979
Having to relocate twice again thereafter; in 1977 and 1979 due to vacate notices, the Club continued its operations from a rented bungalow at Jalan Batu Tiga Lama, Klang while maintaining strong member support and popular activities.
1992
Under the presidency of Mr. Francis Tan Leh Kiah, in the year 1992 the Club purchased its own land at Jalan Goh Hock Huat, Klang for a price of RM200,000.00 and proceeded to build its own clubhouse – a major turning point in the Club’s history.
1998
Moved into the newly completed clubhouse, where it still stands today. This move was largely possible due to the generous contributions in cash and kind from the members concerned as the clubhouse was initially barely furnished and equipped due to insufficient funds.
2013
The Club changed its name to Selangor Coast Club Klang, marking a new chapter of growth and ensuring the preservation of its legacy.

Camaraderie lies at the heart of Selangor Coast Club Klang and it continues to serve as a vibrant social and recreational Club in Klang, bringing members together through friendship and shared passion and offering a welcoming space for families and friends to connect, relax, and celebrate life together.
